Prom 2011

So the prom was like the others in the way that mom was either sewing one of the girls into her dress or sewing something for the dress since you can't find a modest one without going to UTAH! In this case I was making a wrap to cover the bare shoulders. But just going off the pictures..... I think I wasted my time.

Halli went to Ponderosa's prom with Sam Jones. She seemed to have fun even though she only new a few people at that school. Mom's just glad it's over!

DMV round 2

Yes!! She passed!! And I don't have to go back to the stinkin dmv for another.....9 months! That will be when Kendal goes to apply for her permit! Maybe I should take a number now and by then they will get to it!! Thank goodness Halli passed the driving test and thank goodness we have another driver to help mom out!! Now it's just a fight over the cars!

Curse You DMV!!

I don't know anyone that likes the DMV! I don't even think any of the employees like it! I have put off getting my driver's lisence changed from Nevada to Colorado for 2 yrs now. I had made an appointment for Halli to take the driving test so that she could finally get her lisence(she is 17), so I figured I would just renew mine then. We got there 15 minutes before her appointment and I pulled #204 from the machine. The current number was 172. When they called Halli they had only gotten to 174 in 15 min. I don't get what takes so long!! So she goes out to the car and comes back a few minutes later saying that we have to have a front lisence plate on the car or they can't do the test in it. What!! The guy then proceeds to tell me that I can run home and get it but if I'm not back in 15 minutes then we will have to rescedule. So Halli and I race home and begin the search. I had no idea where to even begin since I could remember seeing a lisence plate recently but couldn't think of where. Rich and I won't be teaching an organization classes any time soon if that tells you anything! We have piles of folders and papers that need to be filed that are in several different places so let's just say finding the plate was quite a challenge! Amazingly I found it under a stack of files and we franticly put it on with screws that were an inch too long but worked and raced back over to the DMV. By then it was 45 min. since her appt and the worker said, "Sorry, you will have to rescedule." I was so annoyed by then but happened to notice that they were on #202 so I thought that something good needed to come out of the sitch. 10 minutes later I was handed my new Colorado lisence. I'm still mad at the DMV though because I have a very upset 17 year old and I have to go back again!

Welcome to the Bishopric

Sunday, January 9th, 2011 was a day of excitement and emotions. The ward we moved into almost 2 years ago, Auburn Hills, was split and a new ward created also. We are now apart of the Newlin Meadows Ward in Parker, CO. Two new bishoprics were created and Rich was asked to be apart of ours! It was sad to be split from some our closest friends but it will be exciting to have Rich serve the Lord in this capacity. His parents were able to share this weekend with us which made it even more special! My mom is going through Chemo right now making them unable to be with us but they were there in spirit. Robert, Rich's dad, was able to ordain Rich to the office of High Priest and then he was set apart as the 2nd Counselor in the bishopric. It had snowed the previous night and all day but ours hearts were warm with the spirit we felt throughout our meetings and the rest of the day. We know the Lord will bless us as Rich serves. We are grateful for the friends we have made and the experiences we have gone through since living hear. They have made us better people. Rich is a wonderful husband and father and I love him dearly.

Fraser Hill

Waiting for pizza after a day of tubing.
I couldn't take off my hat because my hair was so crazy.

This is how gloomy the day was and it was as cold as it looks!

Jeff and Jamie Downs family. Obviously the guy in the back didn't realize a picture was being taken. He works at the office too.

Let the dancing begin!

DJ Downs heading up the "get to know you" games.
Rich and I just before we left and the sun was finally poking out.

The top of the hill. Those are people on the right. We easily flew past the very furthest people you can see.

Thank goodness for the tow rope!!

Rich and the kids ready to go. We would all attach to each other and try to go down without losing anyone. We actually kept trying to do our whole group of 50 but always seemed to lose people.

The kiddos! The one that is so bundled that you can't see any skin-Cade.

This place is a blast!! It's called Fraser Hill and it's only an hour and a half away from us by Winter Park. We went with Rich's work for 24 hours of fun! We left the night before and stayed at the Snow Mountain Ranch YMCA. It's a bunch of lodges spread out and they have a separate mess hall and rec center. There was about 50 of us total. After dinner we all went to the rec center and laced up our skates for some crazy rollerskating. Some chose to play basketball or climb the rock wall or table tennis. Everyone seemed to be having a blast except Cade who had been on an antibiotic all week for strep throat and a severe sinus infection. He still wasn't 100% but didn't want to miss out on anything. Poor guy. After the rec center we went back to out lodge and had the privilege of being entertained by DJ Downs. He is one of the owners of the company, former bishop, and has his own dj equipment that he uses to dj church dances. Hence the name the youth have given to him, DJ Downs. It was a lot of fun and a good way to see what people were really like(since this was my first time meeting most of them).
The next day after breakfast(nothing like unlimited coke for breakfast!), we all set out to the tubing hill. It was a blistery cold day with snow and wind the whole time but we all bundled up and managed to stay warm. On the way home we all stopped at a fun pizza place. Everyone looked so exhausted but had a blast! It's always more fun when someone else pays too!! Thanks Best System Practices!!!

Computer Crash, Birthdays, Holidays

Sweet 16!!!
Sorry, kinda blurry. Brigg road his new bike all through the house one Christmas day and for days after(only because there was snow on the ground and we couldn't hold him off).

Birthday #7 for Cade.

Shortly after my last post our computer crashed. At the same time my kids started winter break so you can imagine how upset my three facebooking teens were and the little ones that like to play webkinz and other games. It took almost two weeks before we got it taken care of. I have to admit I did feel a little out of touch myself. So just to update all on what we have done during that time:

  • Celebrated Cade's 7th birthday!

  • Enjoyed our FIRST white Christmas!

  • Had New Year's eve with nearly 40 teens.

  • Celebrated Halli's 16th birthday!!!
